Finding the Thread Again
If you’ve been following along since the beginning, you know this story started with a reluctant 4-H project that somehow turned into a lifelong love. (If not, you can catch up with Part 1 and Part 2 — they’ll make this chapter feel like coming home.)
There was a time when sewing was my sanctuary. My creative outlet. My glittery escape hatch. I stitched through stress, feathered hems with flair, and poured my heart into every crooked seam.
But then… life happened.
I fell in love with the boy next door. (Literally — he lived next door. But that magical story’s for another time.)
Two kids later, my days became a blur of snack crumbs, laundry piles, and bedtime negotiations. My sewing machine? She’s been sitting quietly in the corner, collecting dust like an old friend who doesn’t hold a grudge.
The Thread Got Lost Somewhere Between Diapers and Dishes
I didn’t mean to stop sewing. I just ran out of energy.
Out of time.
Out of space in my brain for anything that didn’t involve chocolate milk or Paw Patrol.
Maybe your “thing” wasn’t sewing.
Maybe it was painting, journaling, photography — or just five minutes of quiet.
Whatever it was, you get it.
And yet… I miss it.
I miss me — the version of myself who stayed up late sewing dog clothes and hand-stitching peacock feathers onto a dress just because it felt magical.
I miss the joy of making something with my hands. The hum of the machine (okay, more of a roar — since I only have two speeds: stop or full throttle).
The way fabric could turn into a story.
Reclaiming My Spark, One Stitch at a Time
So here I am. Not starting over — just picking up where I left off.
I’m holding myself accountable to carve out time for sewing again. Not because I need another hobby, but because I need to reconnect with the part of me that feels most alive when I’m creating.
It won’t be perfect. My projects might take weeks instead of hours.
But I’m showing up.
I’m threading the needle.
I’m choosing to make space for my creative side.
And maybe that’s what matters most.
Sew What’s Next?
If you’re here because you’re trying to find your way back to something you love — welcome.
You’re not alone.
Whether you’re dusting off your machine, dreaming about fabric again, or simply craving a spark of creativity, this space is for you.
Let’s stitch through the chaos together.
Let’s celebrate the messy middle.
Let’s make something beautiful — even if it’s just a crooked little scrunchie.
Because sewing isn’t just about fabric.
It’s about remembering who you are.
Maybe the thread got lost for a while… but we’re finding it again, one stitch at a time.
